Health & Wellbeing
Learning in health and wellbeing ensures that children and young people develop the knowledge and understanding, skills, capabilities and attributes which they need for mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing now and in the future.
Comely Park Primary School and ELC, working with partners, take a holistic approach to promoting health and wellbeing, one that takes account of the stage of growth, development and maturity of each individual, and the social and community context.
Our learning environment support supports our children and young people to:
- develop their self-awareness, self-worth and respect for others
- meet challenges, manage change and build relationships
- experience personal achievement and build their resilience and confidence
- understand and develop their physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing and social skills
- understand how what they eat, how active they are and how decisions they make about their behaviour and relationships affect their physical and mental wellbeing
- participate in a wide range of activities which promote a healthy lifestyle
- understand that adults in their school community have a responsibility to look after them, listen to their concerns and involve others where necessary
- learn about where to find help and resources to inform choices
- assess and manage risk and understand the impact of risk-taking behaviour
- reflect on their strengths and skills to help them make informed choices when planning their next steps
- acknowledge diversity and understand that it is everyone’s responsibility to challenge discrimination.

Gold School Sport Award
Our vision is an active Comely Park where everyone benefits from sport. In a Sport School we will all find ways to be physically active every day. More of us will take part in sport because we see it being relevant to our lives. Being involved in ways that suit us. Meeting fewer barriers. Feeling more included. We will all experience more of the benefits of sport. For some of us, by taking part at school and for others, by also taking part through clubs and our communities.
The sportscotland School Sport Award is a national, Lottery funded initiative designed to encourage schools to continuously improve physical education (PE) and school sport opportunities offered within each School.
Comely Park holds a Gold School Sport Award from Sport Scotland.
