Remote Learning
What's available for learners studying at home during prolonged school closure? Our children and young people are learning in a variety of different settings. We thought it would be helpful to highlight some information and resources which might provide useful support for you and your family:
- A growing range of recorded lessons are available, designed to support learners to develop skills, knowledge and understanding related to a key learning concept. These are available via the West OS powered by ClickView tile which is accessible via Glow. (Glow login required).
- e-Sgoil has developed into a nationwide community for online teaching and learning. Click here to join the learning spaces for Early Years and P1, First Level (P2-P4) and Second Level (P5-P7).
- BBC Scotland TV programmes for Scottish learners on @bbcscotland! There are lots of online resources to explore too! Learn at BBC Scotland and Bitesize.
- Oak National Academy's Online Classroom has nearly 10,000 free video lessons, resources and activities, covering most subjects, from P1-P7.
- Parent Club contains advice on a range of different topics as well as links to advice and support resources for parents of children with additional support needs.
- Education Scotland’s Parentzone Scotland provides information and advice about education in Scotland. It includes practical ideas to support learning at home in a variety of curriculum areas, along with information on additional support needs, and tips on how parents can get involved in their child’s school and education.
- The National Parent Forum Nutshell guide on blended learning, published in August 2020. This joins further Nutshell Guides including online safety.
Each year group has daily access to a teacher during remote learning in the event of a prolonged school closure. Daily live lessons (Numeracy and Literacy) and other curricular remote learning activities can be accessed using pupil logon via Glow on MS Teams.
Glow can be accessed via web browser on any internet ready device including mobile, tablet, destop, laptop and gaming consoles such as Playstation and Xbox.
Borrowbox and Microsfoft Office apps such as Word, Powerpoint, Teams and Onenote can be downloaded from Apple and Android app stores for free and accessed using your pupil Glow logon.

Glow
On Glow Connect you can login and also get information, help and support for Glow. Here you can find out more about what Glow is, its educational benefits and keep up to date with what is happening with Glow.
Children in Scotland learn about Cyber resilience and internet safety as part of the Technologies Experiences and Outcomes. To help children and young people stay safe online we want to make sure they know what makes a strong password when using Glow. Every pupil should have their own password that is difficult for other people to guess but easy for them to remember. Password guidance can be found here.
