Falkirk Council Schools and Education
Falkirk Council provides you with a vast array of online information on their schools and education including topics such: early learning and childcare, school places and admissions, school life, additional support needs, education benefits and support, community learning and development and privacy notices.
Every parent and carer who has a child of school age must provide that child with an education suitable to their age and ability. You must do this by making sure your child regularly attends school or by other means, such as home schooling. We have a duty to provide appropriate education for all children over 5 years and under 16 years of age.
Each school serves an area which is known as the school catchment. Each address in the Falkirk Council area is allocated a primary and secondary denominational and non-denominational school.
Most children attend their catchment school but you may choose another school via submission of a placing request.

Connected Falkirk will give children and young people in our schools the confidence, skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an ever-changing, fast-paced digital world. Digital learning and remote working are now part of all our lives and this innovative project plays a critical role in preparing our young people to live, learn and work in a truly digital age.
Connected Falkirk will:
- provide a digital device for all Primary 6 to Secondary 6 school pupils
- provide a number of devices to Primary 1 to Primary 5 classes
- provide a device to every class teacher, supported by an accredited professional learning programme
- ensure fast, reliable Internet connectivity in all our schools
- provide families with an opportunity to be digitally connected

Digital technology continues to revolutionise how we interact with the world around us - and this is even more apparent now. That is why we need to better prepare our children and young people for the future. Connected Falkirk will provide them with the general and specialist digital skills needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world. It will also assist children and young people with Additional Support Needs, and those who have English as an Additional Language, with their learning.
By providing a device that goes home with the child, families will also be digitally connected to their child's learning, improving engagement and involvement.

School Holiday dates
Falkirk Council school holiday dates are provided on both our School App for Parents and via Falkirk Council. This information shows when pupils will be on holiday from school. Pupils do not attend school on staff development days.

School Play Snacks
When your child first starts school, he or she will suddenly start growing quickly and become more active. So it’s crucial all meals and snacks are rich in nutrients and energy. What children eat affects not only their bodies, but also their learning and behaviour. The food choices they make now can influence their future eating habits and has a big affect on their health.
