Speech and Language Therapy Children’s Service
Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) work with children and young people with a range of speech, language, communication, and/or eating and drinking difficulties.
The NHS Forth Valley SLT team aim to:
- Provide an equitable child-centred approach to children and young people with speech, language and communication needs, and to those with eating and drinking difficulties
- Support children, young people and their families to self-manage their speech, language, communication or eating and drinking needs
- Develop the skills of the other individuals involved with the child or young person to use strategies to help their continued development and promote wellbeing
- Provide targeted support when required
Children need lots of skills to become good confident communicators. Our SLT can help families support their child with all of these skills.
Targeted support for children can be provided in a number of ways including groups for parents, advice and strategies, working with other children in a group and individual appointments.
Please visit the NHS Forth Valley SLT webpage to find further information about how typical speech, language, communication and eating and drinking skills develop, what you can do to help and how you can access the Helpline to request assistance from Speech and Language Therapy.
