Mental Health Awareness Week 2024

This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week theme is movement: moving more for our mental health! Being active is one of the ways we can support good physical and mental wellbeing.

Our bodies and our minds are connected, so looking after ourselves physically also helps us prevent problems with our mental health. Exercise releases “feel good” hormones, that reduce feelings of stress and anger. It also helps us feel better about our bodies. It can improve our sleep too. If it involves other people, like being part of a team, a class or group we see regularly, that can also boost our mental health.

Despite these benefits, so many of us struggle to move enough. We know there are many different reasons for this, so this Mental Health Awareness Week we want to help people to find moments for movement in their daily routines.

When life’s busy, it can be tricky finding time for wellbeing-boosting activities. But finding moments for movement might be easier than you think...

As parents and carers, you play an important role in your child’s mental health. You can access parenting advice from Place2Be's Parenting Smart; full of practical advice and tried and tested tips from child mental health experts to support the wellbeing and behaviour of primary-age children.

Need more support? Mental Health Foundation also offer support and research for good mental health and a range of content designed to give you more information about mental health and to help you to look after your mental health.

Gold School Sport Award

Our vision is an active Comely Park where everyone benefits from sport. In a Sport School we will all find ways to be physically active every day. More of us will take part in sport because we see it being relevant to our lives. Being involved in ways that suit us. Meeting fewer barriers. Feeling more included. We will all experience more of the benefits of sport. For some of us, by taking part at school and for others, by also taking part through clubs and our communities.

The sportscotland School Sport Award is a national, Lottery funded initiative designed to encourage schools to continuously improve physical education (PE) and school sport opportunities offered within each School.

Comely Park holds a Gold School Sport Award from Sport Scotland.
